Near And Far Montana

Friends I am so happy to report to you that I am officially on Spring Break and I couldn't be happier.  I hope you have some plans for Easter tomorrow, if not just show up at a friend's house.  They probably need to be more welcoming anyway.

For this Easter weekend I am excited to introduce you to the lovely Jenn and her pup Grover from Near and Far Montana.

Near And Far Montana

1. Tell us about your blog, Near and Far Montana: What do you like to write about? What do you hope people walk away from your blog with?

My blog is a mix of home renovations, chicken raising, Montana living, travel, puppy love and life in general. I write a lot about our first go at raising chickens and how my dog is obsessed with staring at them and/or running away. There's also a lot about home renovation and how it can be so completely overwhelming. I hope that people can relate to trying to make your way after moving cross country, buying a house and kind of upending your life. And that as crazy as it all is, everything will be just fine.

2. Give us a brief intro on your dog, Grover.

Grover is my pup and we've been together for four years this month! He's a black lab mix and was a stray in Alabama, where I was living at the time. (Boyfriend has a dog too and I love her, but Grover is all mine and tends to get the most attention.) He's a fun loving, trouble making, friendly, playful pup who mostly loves everyone, but he'll stand his ground if he thinks your trouble. He's afraid of water when he can't touch the ground anymore, loves to go for a run and manages to slop water everywhere when he drinks.

3. How did you and your dog meet? Who doesn't love a good meet cute story?

This is one of my favorite stories.
A huge black dog hadn't gotten loose in our neighborhood during a thunderstorm. My roommate let him into the foyer of our apartment building, and I was worried that would terrify our neighbors coming home, or the dog would get back outside and get hurt. I brought him in, dried him off, gave him water and some love. Then I spent the night trying to find his owner, eventually tracking him down.

The night reminded me how much I wanted a dog, so I went looking and nothing quite worked out.

A few weeks later, my roommate came home with a flyer and handed it to me saying, "I shouldn't do this, but..."

It was a photo of an adorable black lab puppy (I'm a sucker for black labs) and his name was Grover, named for a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist from the town where I was working as a reporter, and the details about him were hilarious. He'd been found wandering in Old Alabama Town and a woman who works there took him in to find his owner instead of taking him to the pound.

I went to meet him and fell in love. We've been together ever since.

4. Describe your perfect day with your dog.

Going for a run, or a puppy play date, a walk, exploring in some way while also wearing him out and puppy cuddles.

5. How does your dog factor into your blog?

He's a star on the blog. He makes it into lots of photos, videos, posts about my daily life and how he's taught me my capacity for love and all the joy he's brought to my life, and all the destruction, but he's outgrown most of that. Sort of.

6. What is the funniest/worst/confusing thing you have ever seen Grover do?

He's an odd one that Grover. He falls asleep in all kinds of contorted positions with his head hanging off the bed/couch/chair and sometimes falls off and startles himself.

7. What would you name a blog that only featured Grover?

Probably the Misadventures of Grover

Please go say hi Jenn and Grover on her blog, twitter, Facebook, instagram, and pinterest.
