My Summer Playlist

I recently shared my summertime playlist over on Helene In Between.  Because I am so close to the ocean and my brain hurts after all day in classes I decided to share it here with you today!

If you are me your life is pretty great right now.  I am on summer break because I deal with society's children for 10 months as a High School English teacher.  Summer is the best ever and all I really do is nothing, just find more ways to relax. One of the best ways I relax is with music oh and going to the beach because I live in southern California, please don't hate me.

Because "Summer Erica" has taken over for the next two months I thought I would share chill summer playlist with you.

1. Bob Marley "Three Little Birds"

I am pretty sure this is the quintessential beachy, chilling song.  No one does it better than Bob Marley

2. Jake Owen "Beachin"

I love me some county music and Jake Owen is a total hottie.  I would sit on a beach with him any day.

3. Keith Urban "Little Bit of Everything"

I dare you not to dance around and sing along to this song.

4. Kenny Chesney "When I See This Bar"

I just want to be at an island bar with all my buds when I hear this song.

5. The Eagles "Take It Easy"

I love some classic rock and The Eagles have been preaching a message of taking it easy for most of my life so I try and listen to them.

6. Paul Simon "You Can Call Me Al"

Such a silly song that I thing belongs in summer.

7. Ray LaMontagne "You Are The Best Thing"

Obviously Ray is singing this song to summer.

8. Patty Griffin "Heavenly Day"

First, Patty Griffin is amazing.  Second, she wrote this song for her dog. Third, my dog Penny and I love this song.

9. Tom Petty "Learning To Fly"

Try and be uptight during any Tom Petty song.  Just try it.

10. Joshua Radin "I'd Rather Be With You"

All of his songs are relaxing and chill so I just picked one for this list.

Guide To Coachella Valley Music Festivals

It is March 6th and that means weekends full of amazing music are only a month away from the California desert!  I love both the Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals that will be taking place during April close to Palm Springs, CA.  I am still working out finances to go to one of them, but I thought I would share my tips for these events as you are probably getting ready to go if you bought your tickets early.

A Guide to the Coachella Valley Music Festivals 2014

Coachella Valley Music Festivals

When will I be able to rock out in the desert for three straight days?

Coachella has become so big they have to break it into two weekends.

Weekend 1 - April 11-13

Weekend 2  - April 18-20

Stagecoach is the weekend after Coachella.

Stagecoach - April 25-27

Who will be performing and when?

Check out these super helpful guides that the music festivals have put together!

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="450"] via[/caption]

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="526"] via[/caption]

What should I wear?

Clothing, but not much of it.  I personally am of the opinion that a tank top and shorts is the perfect amount of clothing to wear while jamming out in the desert.  It is really hot so I do not recommend you wear cowboy boots or any real Western wear if you are at Stagecoach.

I know Coachella tends to be a little more hippie in dress.  I am sure some hippies do not wear much clothing while others wear long flowy skirts.  You do you and be happy with what you choose.

This was a typical outfit for me during the festival and I was hot, but I survived and I kept my dignity.

[caption id="attachment_1032" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Please. notice I am clothed and holding a water bottle. I take my own advice very seriously[/caption]

That said plenty of people run around in their bikinis and speedos.  I think that is weird because there is no body of water at the venue (unless you count everyone's sweaty armpits).

Where should I stay?

There are lots of little town within 30 minutes of the venue in Indio.  In case all the hotels there are booked look at the following cities.: Palm Springs, Dessert Hot Springs, 1000 Palms.  I will say that the closer you can stay the better.  Driving a long way after a day in the hot sun and crazy party is not really that great.  I stayed in Desert Hot Springs and it took about 30 minutes to get to the hotel.  I had to fight falling asleep on the drive.

If you can I would recommend getting the shuttle pass to and from the venue.  Many hotels in the area offer shuttles to and from the event, which saves from waiting for forever to leave and if you happen to drink a lot while you are there you will keep us all safe to go back another day.

What can I eat?

There are a lot of food options once you get inside the event.  Plan to pay more for food that you can get on the outside for a lot less.  Think of it like Disneyland, and you will be OK paying $15 for a burger.  I would also highly recommend buying a poweraid.  It was the best $5 I ever spent and gave me the energy to keep jamming.  There are also beer gardens if you into that kind of thing.  I will advice to drink slowly.  I had half a beer and wanted to die from exhaustion.  Please do not be that girl passed out at first aid, or the guy knocking someone over in your mad dash to puke.

What should I bring in with me?

Empty Water Bottles - Unfortunately you are not allowed to bring in your own water.  You can bring in empty water bottles and fill them up there. Do this like every hour.  It is hot, you are exerting a lot of energy rocking out in 100 degree weather, HYDRATE!

SPF 70-100 - Maybe this is the future mom in me but you are going to be in the sun for three whole days, wear some sunscreen!  Honestly getting sunburned at the event on the first day would be terrible.  I saw penny of people lobster red by the second day and they looked miserable.

Extra Clothes -  You do not have to but I brought an extra tank top one of the days and changed when the sun went down.  I liked feeling kind of fresh for the night and not as disgusting.

Sunglasses and hats - It is bright!  Cover up your lovely eyes and scalp!

Cameras - I wish I had taken more photos while I was at Stagecoach last year.  Really have fun and go selfie crazy!

Towels, Blankets, Chairs - You will want to sit down at some point. Bring whatever you would want for the beach.  I brought three beach towels because they got so gross each day.

Dang that is a lot of stuff!  Where will I keep it all?

You can rent a locker.  I think it was like $20 for the whole weekend, invest.

 What should I  expect?

Heat - I am not sure if you have picked this up yet, but it is hot!  Drink water, go inside the one air-conditioned restaurant there, stay at your hotel in the pool as long as you can before you have to go to the event to see your favorite band, find shade, be smart.

Celebrities - Other than the people performing all weekend many celebrities that are in town will stop by to catch their favorite bands perform.  If you see Ashton Kutcher or a player for the Anaheim Ducks hanging out, be cool, take a photo on your phone, write a blog about it, and move on.

What should I Avoid?

Getting Drunk - come on you paid at least $250 just for the tickets to get in.  Why would you get drunk and forget about it.  Have a few drinks if you want to and then move on.  You will thank me later.

The Confederate Flag Bikini Stand - I do not think I actually need to explain this one further.  Why would you were a Confederate flag at all?  Even if it is a southern pride thing, I just don't think you are sending out the right message.

Where can I find out more information on either event?

Coachella

Stagecoach

Will you be going to either or both of these incredible music festivals?  Which one sounds more like the type of festival you would love to go to?

Paul Simon and Sting on Stage Together

This last weekend I took my mom to go see Paul Simon and Sting on Stage Together.

20140218-195920.jpg

The concert was so fun and I had a lovely time with my mom.  She grew up listening to Simon and Garfunkel and then raised me on their music.  It is very much our mother daughter "thing.'  Around her birthday I saw a commercial advertising the show at the Honda Center in Anaheim and I knew I had to get tickets for her birthday earlier in the month.

We started off the night at one of my favorite places JT Schmid's and had my favorite meal of salmon, veggies and rice.  And a lovely banana briose, which I could eat every day.

20140220-130902.jpg

Banana Briose

After we stuffed our faces we went over to the Honda Center to get ready for the show.  I loved the audience at this show.  There were so many baby boomers there that I instantly felt young and amazing!  Of course there were some hipsters like myself there too, yeah right like I am a hipster!

My favorite people were the grown ups who never quit being a hippie at heart, dancing like no one was watching even though we were all watching and loving it!

Before we could go in I realized that the security for this thing was really tight and my mom and I were trying to smuggle in water.  I told her to "be cool" and not act weird when we were being let in so they wouldn't really look at our water bottles.  She said "I am always cool!" and then blew it.

The security guard asked to look in her purse and she told him, "I don't think so."

Goodbye water!

I am surprised they let us in with her clearly anti-establishment attitude. But we did get through and enjoyed the random musical styling of Paul Simon and Sting ensued. And I loved every minute of it!

20140218-195934.jpg
I would have never thought to put Sting with Paul Simon, I mean they are so different, but it worked.  They were a little comedy duo too.

The show was so seamlessly executed that it was three hours of non stop music!  They would play a few songs together, solo, together, solo.... and on and on.

One of my favorite moments came when Sting sang "Roxanne!"  One of my favorite things to do is sing that song, very silly and it was 2700 times better in person. Also I thought about this friends episode the wold time which made me laugh.

The whole concert was so much fun and I chair danced with the best of them!  I usually stand as close as I can, but with the mom I toned it down but still had the best time ever.

This photo was an accident but it felt artsy so there you go. I am pretty sure it should be an album cover now.

Paul Simon and Sting

20140218-200005.jpgMy all time favorite song by Paul Simon is America.  The pictures that come to my mind when I hear this son are beautiful.  It also makes me want to get out and see more and more of the world.  I am pretty sure a lot of people feel that way about this song but dang it I love it.  I was a little bit bummed out that Paul Simon didn't sing it.  Sting actually sang it and did a nice job, maybe I almost cried

Overall it was a wonderful evening that I would recommend to anyone.  I had fun with my mom, jammed to some sweet tunes and remembered that I like other music more than country music (sorry country music you are fun, but I gotta go with my heart!)

Does anyone else out there love Simon and Garfunkel as much as I do?  What are some bands or songs that define your life?

I Love Me! A Single Girl's Guide for Valentine's Day

You don't have a valentine be your own valentine.

Hi friends!  I am so happy to be celebrating Valentine's today with my students.  I am even happier that I do not have to teach them on the actual Valentin's Day.  Something about all the sugar highs and coursing hormones just is gross.

One of the things that bums me out about VDay is that too many single ladies let it get to them that they are single.  I am so single that single is  synonym for my name.  JK, but I am not seeing anyone and there is no one interesting around.  Most days that is totally fine, today I had to log off of Facebook because like three friends announced they were pregnant and I just couldn't anymore.

Although it would be cool to have a little, actually tall, manfriend to lavish me with gifts and take me to dinner I have found that I am in control of my own happiness.  If having gifts and nice dinner on February 14th would make me happy then dang it I will be my own Valentine, because I love me!  It is true I really love myself and think I am a real treat.  Because of this I will be kind to myself and treat myself a bit.

I had the epiphany that I could be my own Valentine about 6 years ago.  I wanted to get a new computer and couldn't totally justify getting one.  Then came Valentine's day and I knew I wanted to get it because I love me! So I did.  Every time I used it I thought about why I bought it and it made me happy. Apple MacBook Pro MD101LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop (NEWEST VERSION)

Last year I was on the search for a cute pair of cowboy boots.  Again it was around February and I was having a hard time spending about $200 on a pair of boots to wear for fashion.  I decided it would be my VDay gift for myself and I have never felt guilty about the purchase.  Rather I feel hot and super awesome.

Ariat Boots - Erica JacqulineAriat Women's Heritage Western R Toe Boot

This year I really wanted to get some nice skin care products.  I had heard incredible things about Philosophy and decided that it was time to make an investment for me.  I also really wanted to buy a Clarisonic for some time and decided this Valentine's Day I would buy it to complete my skin care needs.

Philosophy Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleanser, 8 Ounce - Philosophy Hope in a Jar Daily Moisturizer, All Skin Types, 2 Ounce - Clarisonic Mia Sonic Skin Cleansing System, Pink

I figured this was a great post to link up with Nicole for Treat Yo Self Thursdays!

So ladies I really encourage you to find something that will make you happy for days/years to come.  Instead of being sad make yourself happy and buy something nice, go somewhere fun, buy candy for a friend, or just be kind because chances are someone else is having a hard day too.

If you were to buy something for yourself this year what is the item that you would love to have?

If you haven't done so yet do not forget to vote for your choice in the Ultimate Valentine's Day Contest!

PS - if you refuse to find something to be happy about here is my playlist for terribly realistic break up songs.  You can just listen and soak up the melancholy.

Can I also count this as part of Helene and Sarah's link up?  It is tomorrow so let this serve as a reminder!

Happy Birthday to You, Momma!

Here we are at Wednesday and most of you would probably just go through the day and not realize the vital importance of February 5th.  I am sure you guessed it.  Today is my momma's birthday!

In cause you did not guess what today was I am appalled!  If she wasn't born I would not have been born and this blog would never be clouding up the internet.

In honor of my mom's birthday I decided to pay a little tribute to her and her impact on my life. I can think of no better way of doing this than a list, because lists are what bloggers do right?

My mom has always been one of the most unique, kind, and intelligent people I have ever met.  I do not know how she manages to be the smarted and most individual people I know.  So here is my list of ten things my mom did that make her amazing.

She has read every book ever.

So that might be an exaggeration by like five books.  really though I do not have a memory of her without a book in her hands or on her table or in her hands and on a table. We had bookcases of books she read all around the house and I always wanted to read as many as she.  I will never accomplish that goal

My mom went to high school in Germany.

Yeah you heard me right!  My mom was an army brat and moved to Germany for three years so my grandfather could be a principal of a school on the base there.  She was fluent in German for a while and still can speak a bit.

[caption id="attachment_698" align="aligncenter" width="620"]1069824_10200436044091330_470162565_n Bottom right is my mom, os cute![/caption]

She was a hippie (but just the peace kind, not the drug kind).

She was up in San Francisco during the late 60s and I am sure she has some stories.  Whenever I see a movie set in the 60s and there is hippie girl I just pretend she is my mom.

She met Cesar Chavez.

If you do not know who Cesar Chavez is read this Wikapedia article and them come back and admire this fact.

She has one brown eye and one green

I mean that is just pretty cool.

She is my favorite travel companion.

We have traveled to Europe together and last summer had a lovely time in Hawaii.  She is super chill and reads a book all the time so we can lay out and tan and enjoy life.

[caption id="attachment_694" align="aligncenter" width="672"]432024_823071756010_2031818739_n Ireland 2012[/caption]

She likes to take fun photos.

We once took a photo by a grungy lake because it was "funky."

We also had to take a photo of every McDonanald's we saw in Europe.  I don't know where this one is but it was in Europe!

5210_556057235250_6920131_n

My mom has a fantastic sense of humor.

I remember the first time I really made her laugh.  I was in middle school and I write something about Elvis wearing a hula skirt.  She laughed and laughed and I loved it.  She says and does the silliest things and I love that she is a kid at heart.

[caption id="attachment_695" align="aligncenter" width="720"]26678_584306164170_1457386_n Look at all that joy in the family![/caption]

She was the first person in the family to go to college.

I am telling you this lady is smart.  No one on our family had go past high school and she just decided heck why not get a Doctorate degree?

She made me love music.

My momma has the most varied taste in music ever and I am so glad she made me listen to it even when I complained.  I have a deep appreciation for great music.  From classical to Simon and Garfunkel this lady would listen to it and share why she loved it with me.

For her birthday I am taking her to see Paul Simon at the Honda Center and I am so excited to share that memory with her.

She loves Jesus and lives for him

She is my example of a deeply intelligent, social concerned and compassionate, fun, woman of God.  She has shown me a way of follow God that few have and i am so grateful that she is herself which makes me comfortable to be myself and be happy with who I am in a world where people are constantly trying to be something else to fit in.

So here is wishing you all a wonderful my mom's birthday!

Sandy (Momma) you are one of a kind and I can not think of anyone I would want to be my mom other than you!

Don't Even Try To Connect These Dots.

Today I have a stream of random questions I have been asking myself over the last week or so.  They are in no way connected other than I have thought about it recently.  If you try to find a connection you will fail, although I would love to hear your theories.

Also Penny is making the rounds and has a guest post over at You Gotta Have Hart.  Go say hi!

How in the world could Ezra be A?

OK so true confession I really like Pretty LIttle Liars.  It is totally my guilty pleasure show.  I actually could write 20 blog posts about how I do not get many things that happen on this show.  For example, where are girls parents all the time?  Maybe it was just because my mom loved be but she always knew where I was and who I was with.

Anyway, my doubts of Ezra being A do not stem from a "I love Ezra!" stance.  In fact I find him repulsive.  As a teacher I can not even wrap my head around a teacher falling in love with a student.  Perhaps it is because I teach teenage boys who sometimes wear deodorant, but I have never been able to buy into the premise that Ezra and Aria are actually a couple.  She must really be 25 or something.

The thing that I really have a hard time with is the fact that he could presumably be an English teacher and a murderer.  I am also an English teacher, well I was for a year, and there is no way in the world i would have had time to plan, teach and grade work from my classes and lead a double life as a killer.  When I was teaching English I barely had time to shower and yet here he is showered, looking hot, teaching English rather well, and killing people.  If you are going to have a person with a double life pick a profession that actually has a chance of some down time other than summers and Christmas.

Come on PLL you need to get your story lines together, or not cause I still watch.

How is it that McDonald's sponsors the Olympics?

Hello? This is insane to me! It is like Supersize Me never came out.  Really though, McDonald's is the furthest thing from healthy eating for athletes.  Also they serve hair in their coffee.  You can look at this post for a reference if you want.

On a somewhat related note I am so excited for the Olympics next week I can not even stand it!

What would happen if you took off Zac Brown's Hat?

One of my favorite bands is Zac Brown Band.  They are such talented musicians and they have a ton of fun when you see them in concert.  One thing that I noticed about Zac Brown the two times I saw him live was that no matter the temperature homie is wearing a beanie.

If you google ZB without a beanie I believe you will understand why he wears one on the regular.

One thing that I do not wonder about is Bailey at Becoming Bailey.  Bailey is a lovely blogger over in Kentucky and always lifts my spirits when I read her blog.  Read more about her and why you should be reading her blog!

What is your favorite line from a movie?

My favorite line from a movie: "I don't want to be just one thing. I can't be. I want to be brave and I want to be selfless. Intelligent and honest and kind." I saw this teaser clip of the movie Divergent and loved the quote (and the scene that it's from!) I already know I'm going to love the movie because I loved reading the books.

What is your favorite book?

Picking my favorite book is so hard, because it changes constantly as my obsessions change. Right now I love the Divergent trilogy by Veronica Roth.

DivergentQuote

Why did you start blogging?

I started blogging the day before my 20th birthday. I had a "quarter-life crisis" when I realized my time in college was nearly ending and I could barely remember it. Blogging has been my way of sharing my experiences with the world.

You are given a free day and $100 what would you do?

If I had a free day and $100, I would go to the bookstore and buy lots and lots of books. Then I'd stop at Burger King on my way home and buy a large Frozen Coke. I'd go home and spend the rest of the day reading.

Where are you from and what is your favorite thing to do there?

I'm from Owensboro, Kentucky. There's not a lot to do here... except eat. Our barbecue is world-famous, especially our mutton and burgoo. We also have the most fast-food restaurants per square mile in the US.

If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go and why?

I love traveling and experiencing new things. There's so many countries that I would love to visit someday, but I especially want to visit Germany and Ireland because they are my ancestors' homelands.

Who was your childhood celebrity crush?

My childhood celebrity crush was Aaron Carter. I saw him in concert and my 9 year old self was dying of happiness. I would always imagine that he would come sweep me off my feet and we'd live happily ever after. Hahaha wow I was such a dork.

6 Things That Happened This Weekend

Where did the weekend go?  Is it just me or was this weekend way way way too fast?  I could have used like 15 more days before going back to work.

This weekend was a big one for some folks in the world, and I was one of them.

First, The Grammy's happened.

Congrats to the night's biggest winners Steve Martin and Edie Brickell for winning  Best American Roots Song: “Love Has Come For You."  I always hate that you have to watch the whole show just to find out who won this extremely well-known category!

PS  - yes that is comedian Steve Martin!  If you want a complete list of all the awards Ryan Lewis and Macklemore won you can click here.

PSS- It looks like Katy Perry has become the Susan Lucci of the Grammys.  Keep your chin up Katy, maybe in 20 years Macklemore will stop singing songs about looking incredible in your grandpa's clothes and your tunes will be appreciated.

Second, Sean and Catherine had sex.  Oh wait, I mean they got married.

It was just hard to tell what I was supposed to be watching and excited for because of all the reminders that they were going to have sex for the first time.  By the way they finally are having sex!  Um, can I just say that if I were going to be getting married on TV I would NOT want all the focus to be on my having sex for the first time.  #boundaries.

Third, the Ducks thrashed the Kings in the Stadium Series 3-0.  I thought that the game would be a mess because it was outside in Southern California.  I mean it was 75 degrees during the day and I was worried there would be no ice. But the game went on and apparently the ice didm't totally melt.

I watched the game from a restaurant with a bunch of other hockey fans and I think I had a better seat from the bar than I would if I had tickets for the game (even though I actually wanted to be at the game).  The Ducks shutout the Kings and I couldn't have been happier!

I was a little excited after the game!

Fourth, I went on another date with the guy from this post and he fell asleep at the table.  He wasn't in REM sleep or anything, but homie could not stop yawning!  I was baffled.  I am quite the catch and I am pretty sure it would be really hard to fall asleep while in conversation with me!  I would have let it go but it is the second time it happened!  I am telling you He fell asleep on our first date too.  Fall asleep on a date shame on you.  Fall asleep on a date twice shame on me.

Fifth, It appears I have a soul mate that I did not meet.  I went with a friend to get pedicures this weekend and the man on the other side of her apparently was just like me.  We both get pedicures, love Sherlock, and think vow renewal ceremonies are a desperate attempt to salvage a marriage.  I had no idea of all the things that connected us until later that day.  My friend was a terrible wing person!  So if you read this blog let me know.  All I am looking for is someone who is nice, clean and can stay awake on a date.

Sixth, Penny went to the dog park and showed the world she is a stuck up little dog.  I am telling you she will not play with the riffraff of the world!  If you weigh less than 40 pounds you are no good for her.  I apologize for anyone whose feelings this girl has hurt and I assure you we are working on it.

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="576"]20140126-213242.jpg Penny's i know I am better than you face.[/caption]

How was your weekend?  What exciting things happened to you or better yet what boring things happened that would have made a date fall asleep at the table?

2013 - Favorite Blogs To Sponsor

Today I am sharing some tips I learned this year from sponsoring some blogs.  I have sponsored about 10 blogs this year and I will share my best experiences, what made sponsoring that blog successful, and what to look for in a blog to sponsor.
I have sponsored some blogs and had some very negative experiences which I will not be sharing here.  I try to keep things positive and I really want this post to be about the good things bloggers are doing.  I am more than happy to share my whole sponsoring experience with you through email if you want to know about a particular blog I did not list here.
Things I looked for when I was looking for blogs to sponsor:
Sponsor
1. Do I like the blog?
What is the point in giving this blogger your money if you do not like their content?  I know you can gain some readers but they probably will not readers that are engaged in your writing.  Like likes like (that was a lot of like).  If a reader likes a blog you like the chances of them liking your blog are greatly increased.
2. Do they post on a regular basis?
No it is not necessary to post every single day of the week.  However, if they post on a regular basis that is only good for you.  For example if a blogger writes fresh, original content five days a week that is five time a regular reader will read the blog.  If a blogger only posts 2 or 3 times a week…. you can figure out the rest.
3. How do they promote themselves?
This may seem weird because you want them to promote you, but really you want to know if they are good at promotion.  Do they use twitter to post their links and engage with other blogger?  Are they super into Pinterest?  Is Facebook their jam Are they off the grid and cool like that.  Pay attention to their social media behavior.  If a blogger uses Pinterest exclusively and you do not even have an account, your partnership would not be as dynamic as if you had the same social media savvy.

4. Can I afford it?
Really though sponsoring and trying to grow your blog is expensive.  I set a limit for myself of $20 a month when I first started to sponsor blogs. This meant about one blog a month.  I am slowly making a little money now through blogging and might make more one day.  If that comes I can invest more into advertising myself.  Until then about $25 a month is my limit.  Until your blog becomes a real source of income I think it is important to budget, focus on writing quality posts, and trying to make new blog friends.
5. Is there a special on ad space?
Half of the blogs I sponsored I used a promo code that they offered in a post or on twitter.  I am sure that if you looked at my list and know how much each ad costs you will know that I could have spent way more than $25 a month.  NOPE!  I am all about bargain shopping.
6. Do I trust them?
Really though this is huge.  You are giving over your money and trusting them to promote your blog, give your money to another person if they win a giveaway you sponsored, and their name will be attached to your name (for a week or so).  If you do not get the sense that they are someone you would give a $20 bill to in real life for the love of Dumbeldore, keep your money!
7. Do I get more than a sidebar ad?
I am just going to say what everyone says to themselves, sidebar ads don't work!  As I look through my stats, it is a rare day that traffic comes just from a sidebar ad.  Maybe my buttons are ugly, or they have cooties, but whatever the reason they are not working for me.  If you can write something, have someone write for you, give you some space on a post it is a trillion times more effective than a sidebar button. (That is an official stat from the census bureau).
Life of Bon
Love the way she does her sponsor post.  She write about you and your blog and what she likes about it (at least she did when I was on the blog).  I felt like this was extra helpful because her readers trust her and are likely to read something she believes in.   This is the post she wrote the month I sponsored her.  I from her blog I gained as many followers from this intro as I did on the giveaway day.  Bonnie has a great reputation and her readers are loyal to her.  Life of Bon is a great one to sponsor.
The Daily Tay
Taylor's was the first blog I sponsored. I just started small and got myself a sidebar ad.  Later in the year I did her Saturday Takeover. It gave me some great traffic and readers.  It also is the second thing that comes up when you google search my blog, after my actual blog of course.  Clearly, Taylor has a great following and even a Saturday post will get you traffic.
Helene In Between
OK so my favorite blog I sponsored was Helene in Between.  My sidebar ad on her blog actually was clicked many times a day.  I gained so many followers because of my post on her blog and the giveaway she hosted.
Even more than that though I believe Helene is a good person, she has got this blog thing down to an art.  She comments on every post you write while you are sponsoring her blog.  She emails you to let you know how to make your blog better.  It seems like she really cares about you and the success of your blog and her blog.  I can not say enough nice things about her. Really go sponsor her already!
Kym at Travel Babbles
Who doesn't love Kym!  She is so real and honest in her posts and she hockey is a huge part of her life, which I love.  She is so sweet to her sponsors.  She encourages interaction amongst them on Facebook and will tweet links of posts she likes.
I totally missed the email she sent asking for information on the giveaway last month. I emailed her about it and she was willing to add me to this month's giveaway.  She is kind and understanding and will help you.
Nadine at Back East Blonde
I like the way Nadie adds your spotlight at the end of her post, it looks nice and clean.  Here was my spotlight on here blog.
I appreciated that she emailed  me in advance to tell me when she would post my spotlight.  She also wrote to see if it was OK to move the post date because she did not feel like what she was going to write was dynamic enough. I appreciated that she wanted to write a good post on a day that she would have a sponsor.
Postcards from Rachel
Rachel, actually will promote your posts on Twitter.  She makes her sponsor spotlights look very pretty and nice.  You can tell she is invested in the look of her blog and wants her sponsors to be highlighted in the best possible way.  Check out my post on her blog, I really love that it is on a gift guide for guys.  She is quick to reply to emails and a delight to work with.
Life According to Kenz and Whispering Sweet Nothings
These ladies are both extremely sweet and professional.  The best thing they offered for me was their group giveaways.  I gained a lot of new followers and they were quality readers because they followed these two blogs.
Button Swap Musts
Yes, above I said that buttons don't work anymore, and I stand by that.  I will say though that it has been good for me to network more and make some new blog friends.  The ladies below are engaged in their blog and will read your blog too.  They all have great content and are genuinely wonderful ladies.
