My Mom Was Right

I was talking with my mom recently about kids and how I better get a move on with that whole finding a nice man deal.  She then told me she didn't want me to have kids.

At first I thought she was being mean.  I became defensive and thought she was criticizing my amazing ability to nurture another human.  She then explained that I would be a great mom, Um, hello Penny and May are both alive and happy.  It was that the world is getting worse and worse with every passing day.

Sometimes my mom can be a real downer.

I didn't really agree with her until I saw this video. Every year Jimmy Kimmel has parents lie to their kids and upload their reactions when the parents say they ate all the Halloween Candy.  It is just awful.

As I watched this years video I realized if I had kids they would maybe be friends with some of these monsters. The only children in the video my child would be allowed to hang out with are the girl who cried as she told her mom it was OK she ate the candy and the little boy who just didn't care at all.

After watching this video I can say that I am pretty sure my mom was right on this one.

  1. I can't help but agree, these kids are spoiled brats. I'm not sure I want to have to raise kids in today's world. On the other hand, these parents aren't much nicer for doing this to their kids.. but then again I would totally be the mom to do this.

  3. Le sigh. My moms best friend recently told me that she'd never have children in this world right now either. We've been trying for the past year or so, and planting that type of seed in my head has made me often wonder if it's a wise or responsible decision. The world is a scary place right now ;(

  4. As a mom, I have to agree with yours that it is a scary place to raise kids right now! BUT the good news is, it is possible to raise sweet, polite and unplugged kids as well. I am very happy with the environment we are raising our sons in!
